Hadleigh Art Trail Is Back!

Hadleigh Art Trail 2012

After such a successful event last year, the Hadleigh Art Trail is due to return to Hadleigh town centre from Saturday 6th to Saturday 13th October. The 2012 Art Trail is set to be even bigger and better than last year’s with a wider range of art exhibitions and open studio events. These are to be distributed in public buildings, cafes and shops amongst Hadleigh high street. The artist featured in the trail will vary from professional artists, artistic groups and the emerging talent of local artists too.

Hadleigh town centre has seen many changed since the 2011 art trail was held; including the completion and launch of the new Morrison store in February, the Olympic torch relay in July, the 2012 London Olympic Mountain Biking events in August followed by the Paralympics as well as the opening of many new businesses, including; Doonamis Fashion, Lovely Home & Garden, Velo Virtuoso and Café Yemek! Taking all of this into account, it seems only right that the Hadleigh Art Trail 2012 should celebrate all that Hadleigh – our very own cultural hub – has to offer!

The Hadleigh Old Fire Station (HOFS) played a significant part in the 2011 Hadleigh art trail and is set to do the same this year. It will host a number of events including the Open Studio Weekend and the Art Trail exhibition in the Appliance Hall. Other venues exhibiting art work within Hadleigh include; Barclays bank, St James the Less Church, Salvation Army charity shop, Regeneration shop, Hadleigh library as well as many more. There is a grand total of 33 venues for this year’s art trail, in comparison to the 23 venues in 2011.

Hadleigh Art Trail is facilitated by Rochford District Council in partnership with Essex Legacy and Castle Point Borough Council and will join 14 other Art Trails across the country to be part of the Essex Summer of Art initiative.

Events include free art workshops for children and families and an opportunity to meet the artists at an evening reception at the Hadleigh Old Fire Station on Thursday 11 October. For more information, contact Roxie Curry on 01702 318171 or visit www.castlepoint.gov.uk/arttrail.
